2 States - 7 Counties - Countless Transformations

Metro United Way’s Day of Action launched in 2018 to harness the spirit and power of volunteers, bringing corporate teams together to take on some of our community’s toughest challenges. Over the last four years, 1110 volunteers have taken on 100 projects in two states across seven counties.

Thank you for building a brighter path forward and showing what it means to LIVE UNITED!

Day of Action 2022 in-person projects will take place Friday, September 23, 2022, from 1 – 4 p.m.

At Metro United Way, we believe that one’s zip code should not determine a person’s opportunity or destiny, so we have focused this year’s Day of Action projects to meet the specific needs of each of the seven counties we serve.

  • Jefferson County, KY

In 2022, we launched a place-based approach with the California neighborhood in West Louisville. By working alongside local neighborhood leaders and residents we’ve identified some of the neighborhood’s greatest needs and partnered with nonprofit agencies and organizations to host fifteen (15) Day of Action projects to address those needs.

  • Oldham, Bullitt and Shelby Counties, KY

Day of Action in Oldham, Bullitt and Shelby counties will focus on meeting food insecurity needs throughout each county. Following COVID, we have continued to see this need rise. In some communities, there have been substantial increases to the number of children and families that are requesting assistance. We are partnering with generous volunteers like you, the Chamber of Commerce, and corporate partners in each county to support local agencies and programs that meet these needs.

Learn more below in the Collection Drives section.

  • Harrison, Clark and Floyd Counties, IN

In Southern Indiana, Day of Action activities will focus on our community partners who are on the frontlines assisting individuals and families with basic needs. Our basic needs providers continue to experience higher-than-normal requests for service and are facing increased program expenses related to food, utility, and housing needs. It is our hope that by addressing some small facility and/or program projects we can eliminate a few of the demands they are facing.

Day of Action is an unforgettable, hands-on experience. By giving your time to volunteer, we show what commUNITY can do to meet people’s immediate needs and work for a better tomorrow, ensuring positive, sustainable change across our seven-county region.
